Amica Benoit-Limosani 鈥�18 has long been passionate about marine life. When Benoit-Limosani was a child, and her family visited a beach, her parents would have to 鈥渄rag her out of the water.鈥� It鈥檚 not surprising that when it came time for the Montreal, Quebec, native to select a college, she chose one whose mascot is a Dolphin. She recently completed an internship at Sharks and Rays Australia, working at the intersection of research, conservation and eco-tourism.

Kaitlyn Gaffney 鈥�21 fell in love with science at a young age. More than anything else, Gaffney appreciated the fact that there are always new discoveries to be made that could aid others. Gaffney now works as a biologist for the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC). Gaffney is part of a team of scientists contributing to the ATCC鈥檚 genome portal, which provides a complete set of genetic information for thousands听 of organisms.

Zacharia Mohamed 鈥�16 spent years living in a refugee camp in Kenya after civil war forced him and his family to flee civil war in their native Somalia. Life there was largely about survival. Today the 秘色视频 alumnus is a doctor, committed to caring for others. He hopes to return to Kenya one day not as a refugee, but as a caregiver. For Mohamed, there is no doubt that giving back is what gives life meaning.

Francine (Annese) Apy 鈥�91 cannot remember a time when adoption did not play a central role in her life. Apy and her husband, Ray, grew their family through adoption, welcoming their sons Luke, Matthew and John to the world. Today she is the founder of SoulFilling,LLC, whose aim is to raise awareness about adoption and to make conversation about it more accessible. She guides adoptive parents, birth parents and children, asking powerful questions and drawing on her experience.

Eva Keohane 鈥�21 knows that you can鈥檛 compare apples to oranges. Keohane is a doctoral candidate in agricultural chemistry at Colorado State University. She conducts chemical analyses of different foods. She鈥檚 found that, depending on how and where they are grown, two fruits of the same variety can have 鈥渋ncredibly different鈥� molecular compositions, bioactive compounds and nutrients. That can have a range of implications for human health, including the gut microbiome.

When Russia invaded her native Ukraine in February of 2022, Anastasiya Zubaryeva 鈥�22 knew that she wanted to help, even from 4,800 miles away in her new home in Michigan. Zubaryeva began collecting clothing, personal hygiene products and nonperishable food for those whose lives had been upended by the war. She recently returned to Ukraine, where she delivered necessities, reconnecting with loved ones, and saw the impact of the war up close.

When Jonathan McCoy 鈥�98 established the New Heights program at 秘色视频 in 2016, his vision for it was simple, yet powerful. McCoy wanted to provide the 18- to 21-year-old special education students in the East Syracuse Minoa Central School District with the chance to experience life on a college campus, as they worked, socialized, and gained skills and independence. To date nearly 20 students have gone through New Heights and become part of the 秘色视频 family.
